Deadlines to Canadian Dental Schools Coming up!

As we approach the Thanksgiving weekend, I know that many of you are beginning to plan in earnest how best to craft your first (or additional) application to one or more of our English-speaking dental schools in Canada.

The application deadlines from east to west are as follow:

Dalhousie University - December 1st.

McGill University – November 1st

University of Toronto – November 1st

Western University – November 1st

University of Manitoba – January 15th

University of Calgary – November 1st

University of British Columbia – October 7th

In almost all cases, it is this first step in the application process (along with grades and/or scores) that determines whether you will be successful in securing an interview. Hence, it is important to think about this:

Many of our Canadian dental schools rely on an intramural college of readers that will review your written application materials (e.g., biographical sketch, essays, personal statements, etc). Each of these readers takes a defined period to carefully read over your written application materials. The readers then assign a score. The cumulative score you receive on all aspects of your application will determine whether you will receive an invitation for an in-person or on-line interview.

What was it in your written application materials that stood out in the mind of your readers?

What came across to your readers to say “we really need to meet her or him or they for an interview?”.

What was it in your written application materials that resulted in your readers awarding you a high score?

The coaching service that I provide at MD Coaching Service can ensure that your written application materials are honed and ready for the high level of competitiveness. I want to work with you to see that your application “stands out” from the many others that each reader will vet. I want to help you prepare the very best written application materials to secure that all important interview at the dental school (or schools) of your dreams.

So that you have an opportunity to determine whether my services may be useful to you, let’s have a 10-15 minute chat by phone or zoom (free of charge) for you to ask me any and all questions. My contact information is on the website.

I am looking forward to hearing from you soon.
