How to seek help to meet application deadlines.

A quick check on Google about ‘meeting critical deadlines’ yielded these 8 steps that may help, as you near the medical school application submission dates for McGill, all the Ontario schools, and the Universities of Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, Calgary, and British Columbia. These bits of advice (in no particular order) are:

  1. Know your deadlines

  2. Prioritize tasks

  3. Plan, plan, plan

  4. Allow enough time

  5. Understand the requirements

  6. Don’t be afraid to ask questions

  7. Remove any distractions

  8. Ask for help

Asking for help is sometimes not an easy thing to do, especially when it comes to applications for professional programs. Today, schools are looking for you to share with them very personal, life-changing events that have readied you for the challenges of medical school and ultimately a medical career.

My recent launch of mdcoachingservice arose from my passion to help undergraduate, graduate, professional, and non-professional students alike with the daunting task of compiling a competitive written application. The biographical sketches, situational reflections, etc are key components of your application that will determine whether you receive an invitation to interview. Rest assured that I am here, in a confidential private setting, to assist you in any way I can. As conveyed in my students’ testimonials, my approach is friendly, collaborative, and thorough (and unhurried). In fact, I have been happy to see my recent 1-hour Zoom sessions with students go over time by 15 to 30 minutes (no extra charge!).

During our initial chat, we will be able to determine your immediate needs and I will customize with you your preferences for our sessions. We can have shorter or longer Zoom meetings, at your choosing. If you have additional questions after our first chat but before you commit to retain my services, I am happy to have a second chat or answer any and all of your questions by email.

In this ever-increasing competitive landscape for entry into a Canadian medical school, there are several on-line services that are available to applicants. At mdcoachingservice, I offer an individualized tailored approach – one shoe does not fit all. You each have your own unique life experiences and views that you bring to the application process. I am here to help you see how to best frame these experiences and views into a competitive written application, that will hopefully secure you an interview (or interviews). With just a couple of weeks left before medical school application deadlines, from Ontario westward to British Columbia, my calendar is open to meet your needs. Let’s chat!
