Ontario Medical School Application Deadline

The October 1st deadline for your application to an Ontario medical school through the Ontario Medical School Application Service (OMSAS) portal is fast approaching.  Do you hope to be part of a medical school class starting in September 2025?

At MD Coaching Service, I offer you personalized 1-on-1 assistance with the written portions of your application. Most Ontario medical schools require an Autobiographical Sketch, in which you highlight and showcase your employment, volunteer, and extracurricular activities, as well as awards/accomplishments and research. You must give this sketch careful consideration because this is often the only information you provide the school about who you are and what you have achieved.

Some schools, such as the Northern Ontario School of medicine and the University of Toronto, require additional written components to the application, such as Brief Personal Essays. These are equally as important when revealing your insights and abilities. 

Many of the Ontario Medical Schools offer an Indigenous Medical Stream, which requires applicants to submit a Supplemental Personal Letter that highlights your identity, commitment to community, and aspirations in medical career.  McMaster University offers a Black-Equity Stream, and applicants must provide a Supplemental Personal Essay.  I have previously assisted successful Indigenous and Black applicants with these written portions of their Ontario medical school applications. I also offer preparation for CASPER, which is required at most Ontario medical schools. There is something to be said about practice with positive supportive feedback. These preparations sessions can be casual question-answer or mock tests.
